ASA Coaching Courses

CHILDREN’S COURSE – ONE DAY (6-10 YEARS OLD) 10 Units of instruction

The largest number of coaches at the community club level is parents involved in children’s programs, and are new to the game. These parent/coaches are generally interested in gaining a rudimentary understanding of the task at hand. This one-day course addresses their needs.

YOUTH COURSE –TWO DAYS (10-14 YEAR OLDS) 18 Units of instruction DAY ONE 10-12 year olds, DAY TWO 12-14 year olds.

Designed to help community coaches to understand and organize effective coaching techniques for players maturing from children to youth. Development of technical and tactical understanding are dealt with in an age appropriate way.

SENIOR COURSE- TWO DAYS (14 years old and older) 22 Units of instruction

Technical, tactical and physical (conditioning) aspects of the game appropriate for this age group are presented here. Emphasis is given to the correct coaching points in the form of key factors that will shorten the coaching dialogue, possible information overload, and lead to a better understanding of the coaching topic.

Coaches must be prepared to participate in all sessions conducted in classrooms, gymnasiums, fields, and must be appropriately dressed for active participation.

Procedures When Rescheduling

If you cancel a game check the appropriate schedule to find an open date to reschedule (if it is U12 you must also check the U16 schedule and if U14 you must also check the U18 schedule as these teams play on the same night.)

Then call your local the Ref Coordinator and let them know the game is canceled. if you have a new date chosen find out if there is a ref available.

Call the opposing coach and let him know the game is canceled as well let him know the new date if you have it ("IMPORTANT" If you cancel a game and do not inform the opposing team and they show up to play and you have forgotten to inform them you may have to forfeit the game.)

Email or fax the rescheduled game to the scheduler to  have it posted on the BCSA Web site.

"IMPORTANT"

When a game needs to be cancelled and/or reschedule, the Home must reschedule the game.
